Gaoyuan Li

Gaoyuan is from Fuyang, China. In the year 2013, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Electronic Engennering School with a specialization in the field of Optical Information Science and Technology in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China.

In January 2017, she earned her Master of Science degree from Abbe School of Photonics at University of Jena, Germany. During this period, she joined the Department of Photonic Sensors and Measuring Systems, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering, Jena, Germany as a student assistant for a period of six months, where she worked under the supervision of Dr.-Ing Anika Brahm to deal with the image data of Terahertz Computational Tomography. She later joined the laboratory of Glass Science in Otto Schott Institute of Materials Research, Jena, Germany as a student assistant for a period of 18 months. During this time she also wrote her Master thesis, entitled “Light Diffusing Fiber Design Based on Simulation via Eigen-mode Expansion” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. rer. net. Lothar Wondraczek and Dr. rer. net. Zhiwen Pan.

In April 2017, Gaoyuan joined Ultrafast Infrared and Terahertz Science group, Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark to pursue her Ph.D. As a part of SUPUVIR ITN project, her Ph.D. will be mainly focused on generating mid-IR supercontinuum by exploiting negative nonlinearity solitons (“negatons”) in waveguides in quadratic nonlinear mid-IR transparent crystals. Her goal is to use waveguides designed for broadband mid-IR guidance and generate a high-power mid-IR supercontinuum up to 5.5 μm.
