Abba Saleh

Abba is from Nigeria. He completed his B.Sc. degree in Physics Engineering from the University of Gaziantep in the year 2014. He had his master’s degree in Material Science and Nanotechnology from the Institute of Material Science and Nanotechnology (UNAM), at Bilkent University in Turkey, in the year 2016. During his Master studies, although he worked on high power fiber lasers for a certain period, however, his focus was predominantly on development of MID-IR supercontinuum sources. They developed a new technique for fabricating nanowires directly from bulk chalcogenide glasses, as well as a new method for fabricating multicore chalcogenide fibers for supercontinuum generation.

Based on his several experiences with nonlinear optics and photonics, upon completion of his master’s degree, he decided to join SUPUVIR project under Valmet Technologies in collaboration with Applied optics group in Photonics laboratory at Tampere University of Technology (TUT). His goal as an ESR in the SUPUVIR project, is to develop a short-range supercontinuum based LIDAR (SC-LIDAR) for industrial applications, particularly, temperature profiling in thermal devices, like combustion power plants. This will pave way for precise control and management of combustion processes in combustion power plants.
