The Ultrafast Optics Group of the Tampere University of Technology focuses on the study of nonlinear phenomena and dynamics associated in waveguide structures. The research conducted involves theoretical studies, the development of advanced computational models as well as experimental investigations. Current research interests include the investigations of extreme energy localization in chaotic and turbulent regimes, the development of ultra-broadband optical sources with characteristics tailored to specific applications such as spectroscopy or imaging, and the development of novel imaging techniques both in the spatial and in the time domain. The group possess state-of-the-art facilities including ultrafast laser systems, optical parametric oscillators, spectrum analysers, fast oscilloscopes, cross-correlation optical gating characterization and coherence measurement set up etc.
