ITME Group

The group at the Glass Department of Institute of Electronic Materials Technology have over 30 years of experience in the designing and fabrication of various types of multicomponent glasses and fiber optic elements. This includes fluoride, tellurite, silicate and phosphate fiber-grade glasses. Our three-storey fiber drawing laboratory is equipped with four large drawing towers and clean-room cabinets for fiber preform preparation. Our expertise in fiber optics includes fabrication of image guides and classic optical fibers, as well as 15+ years of experience with photonic crystal fibers and more recently with the unique nanostructured fibers. Combined with our own fiber design and simulation software, we are able to deliver custom micro- and nanostructured optical fibers and fiber optics components for the visible, near-IR and mid-IR up to about 5 µm, for applications ranging from nonlinear optics, through polarization or wavefront manipulation, beam delivery to micro-optofluidics. Our optics laboratory is equipped with an advanced microstructured fiber fusion splicer, and various measurement setups, e.g. Michelson or Mach-Zehnder type interferometers, FROG/XFROG, supercontinuum generation under femtosecond to nanosecond pumping. Our flagship products include nanostructured microlenses microaxicons and fibers, and the all-normal dispersion (“ANDi”), all-solid glass nonlinear photonic crystal fibers for pulse-preserving supercontinuum generation.
