Tampere University of Technology

TUT is an active scientific community of 2,000 employees and more than 10,000 students. The University operates in the form of a foundation and has a long-standing tradition of collaboration with other research institutions and business life. TUT strategy defines “Optics and Photonics” as one of the four leading-edge research areas of the University. The Optics laboratory of TUT is formed by three groups and includes 30 people altogether. The three groups collaborate in different projects, share premises, equipment, and hold joint meetings. The research conducted involves theoretical studies, development of advanced computational models, as well as experimental investigations. The Optics Laboratory was highly ranked in a recent evaluation of the physics research in Finland conducted by the Academy of Finland.
