DTU is the Technical University of Denmark. The participating department is the Dept of Photonics Engineering (DTU Fotonik) whose research and education activities focus on photonics technologies for a wide range of applications covering communications, sensing, energy and bio-medical. About 220 researchers are employed at DTU Fotonik, including approx 90 PhD students. DTU Fotonik offers international Master Degrees in Photonics, Telecommunication, and Physics and Nanotechnology, and it graduates about 30+ PhD and 50+ MSc students per year, emphasizing education of highly skilled students with durable collaboration with industry. DTU Fotonik spins off on average 1-2 companies per year, and yearly files 15 patent applications.
